Conan O’Brien Joins Twitter
Former host of NBC’s “The Tonight Show,” Conan O’Brien, addressed the public for the first time since his seven-month tenure as the famous show’s host came to an end. The comedian joined Twitter and issued his first tweet on Wednesday stating, “Today I interviewed a squirrel in my backyard and then threw to commercial.  Somebody help me.” Word of his presence on the networking site spread quickly as O’Brien had almost 300,000 followers within a day. His Twitter bio sets the mood for what’s to come from “Coco,” saying, “I had a show. Then I had a different show. Now I have a Twitter account.” 

Shakira Launches Children’s Charity
Grammy-award-winning artist Shakira has partnered with the World Bank to form “Early Childhood Initiative: An Investment for Life.” The international star was on hand, along with World Bank Group President Robert B. Zoellick, in Washington, D.C. on Monday to announce the $300 million plan “to provide funding and technical assistance aimed at supporting the implementation of Early Childhood Development (ECD) programs in Latin America and the Caribbean.” At the ceremony, Shakira said, “To every leader in Latin America and the Caribbean ... we call on you to take advantage of the Early Childhood Initiative and let the World Bank experts help you and help you design innovative and effective programs, apply for funding, and invest in the future.”

Moonves Extends Contract
CBS President and Chief Executive Les Moonves has signed a new contract with his media company employer that maintains his current post and salary through 2015. Moonves said in a statement, “I have the privilege of working with the greatest team of people in this or any other business. I am very gratified that my relationship with the Company will continue. Executive Chairman Sumner Redstone said, “This agreement not only secures the future of the Company for many years to come, it also further aligns and strengthens the interests of the chief executive with those of our shareholders.”

Bruce Willis Talks ‘Die Hard 5’
Actor Bruce Willis, who has famously played New York cop John McClane in four “Die Hard” films, mentioned yet another installment in a recent interview with MTV News. He said simply, “I think we’re going to do a ‘Die Hard 5’ next year.” He went on to imply that he’d prefer to work with the director of film number four “Live Free or Die Hard,” saying, “I would hire Len Wiseman right now.”
