French electro-pop duo Daft Punk won Album of the Year in the 2014 Grammy Awards for “Random Access Memories.
The album also won Best Dance/Electronica Album and Best Engineered Album Non-Classical.
The group was also nominated for “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance,” and “Record of the Year” (for their ‘Get Lucky’ single.)
The popular European group consists of musicians and singers Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter from France. The duo hit mass popularity in the late 1990s in France and in most of Europe after.
The duo released “Random Access Memories”, led by the single “Get Lucky” to critical acclaim in May 2013 after a hiatus of several years. The album got Daft Punk to a number-one status in France for the first time, and after a few weeks, hit the number one on the UK and USA charts as well.
