Gordon Ramsay’s wife Tana had a miscarriage five months into her pregnancy.
The restauranteur took to Facebook on June 13 to share the sad news.
“We had a devastating weekend as Tana has sadly miscarried our son at five months,” Ramsay wrote. We’re together healing as a family, but we want to thank everyone again for all your amazing support and well wishes.”
“I'd especially like to send a big thank you to the amazing team at Portland Hospital for everything they’ve done,” he added.
Ramsay and Tana have been married since 1996. The couple has four children—18-year-old Megan, 16-year-old twins Jack and Holly, and 14-year-old Matilda. Last month, Ramsay revealed his wife was pregnant with their fifth child on “The Late Late Show With James Corden.”
“You have four teenagers in your house,” Corden said to 49-year-old Ramsay. “That’s a lot of hormones. Are you and Tana surviving that?”
“Uh, well. Three girls and a boy,” the chef replied, before announcing the pregnancy news. “And one more on the way!”
An excited Corden congratulated Ramsay as the crowd cheered loudly.
“I’m really nervous,” Gordon admitted, adding that the baby’s due date was in September. “And it’s a girl!—Obviously, I’m happy with another girl.”
He continued, “Four girls. Four weddings. Four Sweet 16s. Four boyfriends.”
Gordon has publicly gushed about his four children in interviews. When he appeared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” last year, Ramsay revealed that his children are usually in charge of Thanksgiving dinner.
“I have four amazing kids. We kind of delegate that kind of responsibility to them because I’ve been busting my [expletive] off for years in the kitchen. Kids love cooking so I can sit back and put my feet up,” he said. Daughter Matilda is a chef.
Ramsay who is known to be no-nonsense tough in the kitchen, is a pushover at home, according to his wife.
“When it comes to the kids, he’s a total pushover, especially now that they’re teenagers,” Tana said in a 2014 interview with Entertainment Tonight.
