Google, by far the world’s largest website in terms of overall web traffic, apparently went down on Friday afternoon for a period of time, with some users still reporting problems. YouTube, owned by Google, was also down for a spell.

A number of users took to Twitter to share their displeasure.

“We’re canceling the apocalypse. As soon as http://google.com  comes back,” wrote Dan Benjamin. “Woah. http://Google.com  is down,” wrote another.

Isitdownrightnow.com said there was a “Possible Service Disruption” for Google.com, saying that some “users have reported problems in the last few hours.”

A few minutes later, some Twitter users and users on the Isitdownrightnow.com website reported that Google and YouTube were back up.

Story is developing; check back for updates.
