Goodbye Weather Channel, Oombrella Can Predict the Weather

Updated:

Have you ever left your house, forgetting your umbrella, only to get rained on in 20 seconds? Or how about changing umbrellas every 3 months or so because they just can’t seem to last?

Well, you might want to get rid of your umbrella—and get yourself an oombrella.

Yes, you read that right.

Oombrella is a web-connected umbrella that alerts you when it's going to rain.

Oombrella is a web-connected umbrella that alerts you when it’s going to rain—giving real-time weather updates. It also sends you a notification to your phone if you leave the oombrella behind—it’s wind-resistant too.

It’s around 3 feet long, has a curved handle, and a smaller version that is under 10 inches long with a straight handle, according to Digital Trends.

The product also has a screw thread on top if you want to attach a GoPro, reported Mashable.

Kickstarter launched a campaign on March 17, hoping to raise $65,549 by mid-April. As of March 18, they raised $19,259 from 231 people. They have 31 days to go.

A pledge of $66 or more will get you a free oombrella in one of three choices: rainbow, black, or white.

If all goes well, oombrellas will ship in October 2016.
