ATMs selling instant gold coins and bars, called the GOLD to go®, were unveiled at Town Center Mall located in Boca Raton, Fla. on Friday, in the American debut of the gold ATM that has already hit Germany, Spain, Italy and Dubai.
Each GOLD to go machine features a 19-inch touchscreen and a golden color design. Like other vending machines, all major credit cards and cash are accepted, and a receipt will be issued after every purchase.
The cheapest product is a maple leaf golden coin which is sold at US $5, and all orders come with a gift box. Prices for the gold are updated every 10 minutes. The ATM also offers a 10-day money-back guarantee.
Designed by a German company called Ex Oriente Lux AG, the idea of the invention is “to offer tangible assets that presently have high value and will retain that value in the future,” according to a statement by the company.
GOLD to go ATMs currently operate in a number of cities in Europe, including Madrid, Spain and Berlin, Germany, mainly in luxury hotels and high-end shopping malls. The Emirates Palace Hotel, a luxury hotel in Abu Dhabi welcomed its first Gold to go in May, making Abu Dhabi the first city outside of Europe to have the GOLD to go ATMs.
