Google will force its users to use Gmail’s new “compose” feature, which will pop out a small box in the corner of the page, according to a company blog post. Some users weren’t too happy with the change.

“As a result of your input, we’re now ready to introduce the new compose experience as the default for everyone. We’re looking forward to hearing what you think,” Phil Sharp, Product Manager for Gmail, wrote in the blog.

On Twitter, there were numerous complaints about the new feature and only few positive comments about it.

“I’m not diggin the new gmail,” said one user, Huma Q. “Hey @gmail: your new look/compose features suck. Change it all back,” another wrote, and suggested that if the product isn’t broken, then Google should not have done anything to change it.

“So the new @gmail compose feature sucks. Just thought you all should know,” said another.

One user remarked that “if there were a military coup the day a new gmail feature rolled out ... I'd hear way more complaining about the latter.”

But according to Sharp, the new “compose” feature makes it easier for users to multitask.

“The new compose will be rolling out to everyone over the next few days,” he said, confirming that it will be implemented for every Gmail user’s account.

Sharp also said that the new compose feature allows users a new way to send files via Google Drive and also includes pop-out replies.
