Global Q&A: ‘How do you understand the role of robots in our future lives?’
Salvador, Bahia, Brazil: Alaor Lopes Menezes Filho, 28, Journalist: Robotics are in almost everything we see. I understand these advances are very important, because we are dependent on technology. What fascinates many of us in robotics is precisely the fact that the field of robotics has much to do with the understanding of our own human condition. If we cannot create robots to feel emotions, it is precisely because we still do not understand human emotions so completely as to be able to play it on any device. Similarly, if human reasoning, in all its fullness and complexity, is still far from being artificially reproduced, even in the face of the enormous progresses made in the field of Artificial Intelligence, it is because we still cannot grasp enough of the functioning of human intelligence.
