George Clooney’s best man is apparently not who everyone thought it was going to be.
Brad Pitt was the frontrunner in many people’s minds. In fact, Clooney’s aunt Staria said earlier this year that she believed Pitt would be chosen.
“I would say he'd choose Brad Pitt for his best man,” she told the Daily Mail. “They are good friends, I would think that’s who he'd choose.”
But now a new report indicates that Pitt will not get the honor.
Instead, Rande Gerber will be the best man, according to Radar Online, who says that Amal Alamuddin’s maid of honor will be her younger sister Tala.
Gerber has already been helping out, apparently helping load dozens of cases of tequila aboard a private jet in Los Angeles just a couple days ago.
Gerber is the husband of Cindy Crawford.
In fact, Clooney and Gerber have lived very close together for years, in two separate houses in a compound in California, reported the Architectural Digest. They refer to the compound as “Casamigos,” of House of Friends.
“The best times are when all the bedrooms are filled with guests and everyone’s by the pool with a Casamigos in their hand,” Gerber said. The two homes were built in tandem with Clooney trusting Gerber to choose the design and other details well.
“Rande has this amazing eye for houses and style,” said Clooney, who nonetheless was a regular presence at meetings and traveled to the site every couple of weeks to give input. “I wanted something that would blend in,” he notes, “something indigenous that would feel in harmony with the setting.”
The wedding is slated to take place on September 27, a Saturday, according to Italian newspaper II Gazzettino.
The ceremony will allegedly take place in the Ca' Farsetti, with a reception later happening the luxury seven-star Aman Canal Grande hotel, which is located inside 16th century palace Palazzo Papadopoli.
