A “Friends Reunion” poster that says in 2014, there will be “one after the 10 year break,” is just a hoax. Another one says there will be a Thanksgiving reunion.
On Twitter this week, the poster again went viral. But there’s no truth to it. “Friends Reunion is happening in 2014!” it reads.
The poster was created by 21-year-old Tom Charlie Thompson, reported The Metro last month.
“I’m very sorry for any confusion caused. I have to say that the poster wasn’t created with the intention to upset, anger or fool anyone,” Thompson told the Metro. “It wasn’t even supposed to be seen by many people. I was expecting a few ‘likes’ on Facebook by some of my friends who are also fans of the show.”
He said he created the poster after one friends asked him to, but it appears that it went viral.
“My original poster has my Twitter name on it. Therefore, nobody should have been confused as to whether it might or might not be real. The fact it was cropped and re-uploaded by somebody else is what caused the confusion, in my opinion. An official promotional poster would not have had somebody’s Twitter name stuck to the bottom of it,” he said.
There’s been no confirmation of a “Friends” reunion anytime soon.
“Friends” co-creator Marta Kauffman in 2013 told the media that there’s no plans for a new “Friends” show or reunion--despite numerous Internet rumors saying otherwise in recent months.
A rumor that’s been around since last year claims that NBC has confirmed a new “Friends” show, but Kauffman vehemently denied those allegations.
