There’s now two fake posters claiming that “Friends” will have a reunion in 2014, but show producers and the stars themselves have said otherwise.
Last week, a poster went viral on Twitter and Facebook, saying Friends will return “after the 10-year break,” but now there’s one saying “Friends ... the one with the reunion” and claims it will come out Thanksgiving 2014.
The “10-year break” photo showed stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, Matt Le Blanc, and David Schwimmer.
Cox, who played Monica on the show, downplayed any rumors in an interview this week.
When asked if there would be a “Friends” reunion in the near future, she replied, “We are way too old to be showing what we look like from that to that. No, we’re not doing one.”
She added: “[Cox’s ex-husband] David Arquette used to have a great idea and he said, ‘What if you guys do an episode of ’Friends’ every Thanksgiving. Just come back for that one week to say what is everyone doing in the last year ... and we didn’t listen, we didn’t do it, so now it’s too late,” she added, recalling her ex-husband’s words.”
“Friends” was on NBC from 1994 to 2004 and was considered one of the most popular sitcoms of all time.
None of the “Friends” stars or NBC have confirmed any remake or reunion.
This week, a number of Twitter users were incensed over the false rumors.
“Nobody who is even remotely linked with Friends has mentioned anything about a reunion yet someone makes a crappy poster & it’s believed,” wrote one.
Added another: “If anyone else posts that fake friends reunion poster I am going to scream.”
Last year, Marta Kauffman, the co-creator of “Friends,” told E! that there will be no TV resurrection of the show.
