The Indiana Pacers have signed free agent forward David West to a two-year $20 million contract, according to a report on NBA.com. The Pacers have yet to confirm the deal.
The 6'9” 240-lb forward West played for New Orleans previously after being drafted by team with the 18th overall pick in the 2003 draft. Now 31 years old, West put up averages 18.9 points and 7.6 rebounds per game last season for the 46-36 Hornets.
In his eight-year career the Teaneck, New Jersey born-West has averaged 16.4 points and 7.3 rebounds per contest and has been a starter for the past six seasons.
For the Pacers, the signing fills a void at the power forward position and gives their young nucleus of Danny Granger, Darren Collison, and Roy Hibbert another scoring option.
