Fox News slammed the Obama administration on Monday after reports emerged that the Justice Department specifically targeted Fox reporter James Rosen.

“We are outraged to learn today that James Rosen was named a criminal co-conspirator for simply doing his job as a reporter,” Fox News Executive Vice President Michael Clemente said in a statement. “In fact, it is downright chilling. We will unequivocally defend his right to operate as a member of what up until now has always been a free press.”

The Washington Post first reported about the department’s investigation into Rosen.

Later, the Federation of American Scientists Project on Government Secrecy posted the warrant request in the Rosen case.

The report comes just a week after The Associated Press said the Justice Department got a subpoena that got two months of phone records of more than 100 journalists.
