Fired Anchor Letterman: A television anchor who was fired after an on-air gaffe will appear on David Letterman.

A.J. Clemente was looking down at his notes, trying to get ready for the upcoming broadcast. But the broadcast had already started, and he was caught cursing while still looking down.

NBC’s North Dakota affiliate KYFR-TV fired Clemente after the incident.

Monica Hannan, news director for the station, apologized for the incident on Facebook. “He did not realize his microphone was on, but still, that’s no excuse,” she said.

Clemente said he laughed about the mistake and tried to stay positive.  “Wish I didn’t trip over my ‘freaking shoes’ out of the gate,” he said via Twitter.

Now CBS is reporting that Clemente will appear on David Letterman, which airs on the network, on April 24 at 11:30 p.m.

Many people have taken to social media to try to persuade NBC to give Clemente his job back, or to help him get a new job.
