The main stars of the upcoming 50 Shades of Grey movie were recently recalled to do re-shoots because some key scenes did not feel “passionate” enough.
Producers have been disappointed by the lack of chemistry between Dornan and Johnson, prompting some scenes to be reshot less than four months before the film is slated to be released in theaters.
Sources told Us Weekly that Johnson especially is not doing well portraying literature student Anastasia Steele.
“Dakota isn’t coming off sexy enough,”a source said. “Ana needs to be naive, not a dishrag.”
There was no specific criticism of Dornan, who is portraying millionaire entrepreneur Christian Grey after Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam was unable to fulfill the role he originally snagged.
Another source said that the cast members are determined to get the movie right.
“They want to do sequels, so this has to be perfect,” the insider said.
A Universal Studios representative, on the other hand, denied that there’s any problems.
“No one should question the heat of intensity of our actors,” the rep said.
But pictures last week, including on October 14, do seem to line up with the allegations from the sources.
Dornan and Johnson were spotted in woods near Vancouver shooting some scenes.
The film, based on the popular series of books from E.L. James, is slated to hit theaters on February 13, 2015. Rita Ora, Marcia Gay Harden, and Luke Grimes are among the other stars.
