The FIFA 15 release date was Tuesday, and the EA game has garnered mostly good reviews.

Meanwhile, the FIFA 15 demo broke a number of records with 5.5 million downloads when it was released.

Here’s a rundown of the latest reviews.

The Guardian gave the latest FIFA offering a 5 out of 5 stars.

“If this is your first Fifa game on the new gen consoles then you will be blown away by all the little details that together contribute to an overall experience not too dissimilar to watching football on live television. If you owned Fifa 14 on Xbox One or PS3, Fifa 15 is still a significant upgrade, though maybe not the revolutionary product that it was built up to be. It’s a baby step rather than a leap towards perfection. Fifa 15 is still not entirely flawless, but then who cares when it’s already the new best football simulation ever?” the paper says.

Meanwhile, The Independent gave it a favorable review.

“As one would expect, FIFA 15 is a winning game. A few minor tweaks have taken it a little closer to complete perfection in terms of a simulation game. They’ve also taken a risk with the switch in defending, but it’s a move that will likely give players more to learn and take time to master - a good thing in the longer run. For those who simply want it to feel like what they’re used to - well, EA included that option too. To compare it to Ronaldo, FIFA 15 just scored a hat-trick,” the paper says.

But The Telegraph said it is a 3-star out of 5-star game.

“Aside from the philosophical issue of whether ‘largely the same’ will fly as the basis of a fresh £50 purchase (largely unlikely), the lack of big gameplay changes might reflect an uncomfortable truth about a genre that’s now over two decades old. It’s beyond argument that time and technology have made football games better, giving us lavish broadcast-style presentation, minutely detailed physical representations of players, and a complex causal physics environment which accurately recreates not just the sport of football but, by extension and existential implication, the fundamentals of our entire universe. And yet, awkwardly enough for the guy whose job it was to program that universe, it’s difficult to argue that this advancement has translated into more fun,” it says.

IGN gave the game an 8.3 out of 10.

“FIFA 15 remains one of the most impressively comprehensive sport simulations around, and on new-gen hardware it really is the beautiful game. But while some of FIFA 15’s refinements are worthwhile – and a tangible improvement on FIFA 14 – its flaws stand out all the more. In some ways it’s a step forward, in others a step back - and with Konami’s PES seemingly in resurgent form, EA Sports can’t afford to take its eye off the ball,” the site says.

Bleacher Report posted a list of the Metacritic scores for FIFA 14 and FIFA 15.

For the PS4, FIFA 15 already has a 82 on the site and the Xbox One version has an 85. FIFA 14 had an 88 for the Xbox One and an 87 for the PS4.
