For those looking for an unusual story to brighten their day, then a video has surfaced online of a father in Kansas teaching his son how to catch fish. Unlike most fathers though who teach their children the art of the river using a fishing rod, lures, and bait, this intrepid father has chosen to teach his son how to catch fish using just his hands.
In the video, we see the father and son standing chest deep in a flowing river. In front of them is a deep, dark hole that leads under the river bank. A caption on screen tells us that inside the hole is a catfish and that the father is about to show his son how he can grab it from its resting place.
The clip then cuts to the child gingerly staring into the hole with a scared look on his face. Slowly, he raises his glove covered hands and reaches into the darkness. Immediately we see a thrashing from within the hole and the child recoils in fear.
With the father relocated behind him, the child reaches into the hole again, but again the fish thrashes its tail and the boy fails in his attempts to grab it. Over and over the child reaches into the hole with no success until suddenly, we see the fish’s head as the boy grabs it by the gill and pulls it from the darkness. The huge fish is almost as big as the boy and he and his father struggle to keep it restrained. Eventually, the boy’s father rams a hook in the fish’s mouth and they release it back to the water where it thrashes around their feet.
