The Fargo television show on FX is nearing the end of season 1.
The second-to-last episode was set to air on June 10, and the finale will air on June 17.
In line with the brief descriptions for the episodes from the network, not much has come out yet about what will happen.
Here’s the description for the episode, which is titled “Morton’s Fork”:
“Molly takes the lead, while Gus pursues a hunch. Lester manipulates a situation, and Malvo finds a new target.”
However, more comes from boss Noah Hawley, who described the final hour as “bloody.”
He also referenced the dynamic between Lester and Malvo. “Can the student surpass the master? I guess that is the question that [fans] should be thinking about going into the last two episodes,” he told Entertainment Weekly.
Hawley also told the website that season 2--if it happens--probably won’t have the same leads.
“When I went in and sat down with FX, I said the movie was as powerful as it was, because at the end you knew she was going to wake up tomorrow and it was going to be a normal day. And we’re saying it’s a true story, which it isn’t, but it’s following a certain true story logic, and it would strain credulity I think to have the continuing adventures of Molly and Gus with [a new storyline of] ‘What crazy Coen Brother case are they going to catch next time?'” he said.
“My feeling is we would explore new territory, but nothing is set in stone yet,” he added.
FX should announce soon whether there will be a season 2 or not.
The premiere episode drew 8.2 million viewers, counting the DVR and rerun data. But the first run was only 2.6 million viewers, and that has dropped as low as 1.5 million through the course of the season.
That did climb to 1.8 million (0.5 million in the 18-49 age bracket) in the third-to-last episode of the season.
