At least two fake photos of the meteor that was reported by thousands of people on Wednesday are being shared online, mostly on Twitter.
One photo is of a yellow streak that looks somewhat believeable, but is actually from a French Tribune article from November 2012.
The other is a “rendition” shared by a Twitter account called “BeachBumPhotos.” It’s also posted on a website called Southern California Weather Authority.
Thousands of people saw the meteor or fireball, so it did happen.
“I saw it! Huge flash of light, followed by a streak of light for a few seconds, and then it was gone. Scary but beautiful,” Russ Haigis , a San Diego resident, told Epoch Times.
“It happened so fast taking a pic was impossible,” he added.
