The Facebook Messenger app, in all its ubitiquity, has a secret.
The app has one of the oldest games in the world: chess.
To start the game, one has to type “@fbchess play”---which will show a chess board. The sender of the message is granted the first move. Commands are made by typing in specific commands for the pieces. After a move is made, the board is updated and will appear below.
A letter is representative of each piece. P is pawn, N is knight, R is rook, B is bishop, Q is queen, and K is King.
And to make moves, you have to type @fbchess and the letter of the relevant piece before the number and letter of the space.
For example, if you were to make your first move with a pawn that is currently on B2 to B4, you would type in @fbchess Pb4. If that doesn’t make sense, then type in @fbchess help.
