Extending Canada’s Diplomatic Reach
Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird and U.K. Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs William Hague answer questions about a plan for Canada and the U.K. to share diplomatic missions abroad. The plan could see the two countries operating out of the same embassy, a move that has critics questioning the long-term impacts on Canada’s international reputation given the U.K.’s colonial history that is still disparaged in some countries. Baird downplayed the significance of the plan, but said it would extend Canada’s diplomatic reach into areas where it does not have a presence. Matthew Little/The Epoch Times
