Former Subway spokesperson Jared Fogle, who is currently serving a 15-year-long prison sentence after pleading guilty to charges of child pornography, is now serving food in prison.

Larry Levine, a prison consultant and former federal prison inmate who has clients in Colorado’s Englewood Prison, told People that  Fogle, 38, had been assigned two months ago to serve sandwiches in the prison’s kitchen.

Fogle was later moved from the inmate cafeteria by officials for safety reasons, since, according to Levine, "He’s been slapped around fairly consistently since the start of his sentence … it just hasn’t been reported.”

Fogle is currently serving food at the correctional officers’ cafeteria, which has higher-end food, such as steaks, TMZ reported.

Fogle was beaten by fellow inmate Steven Nigg earlier this month. According to the Denver Post, Nigg wrote to his family saying: “The public believes these sick predators are being punished when they are sent to prison. The administration treats them like they are on the endangered species list.”

Jimmy Nigg, Jr., the nephew of Steven Nigg told People Fogle pays prisoners money to physically protect him.

“He'll always have one or two guys with him at a time,” [Jimmy] Nigg said.

The former subway pitchman, who started his sentence in November, is serving 15 years at the Englewood Federal Corrections Institute in Colorado.

Fogle pleaded guilty for child pornography and having sex with underage prostitutes.
