Emma Watson never realized that she had become a multi-millionaire until eight years after she started filming the Harry Potter series, according to the Daily Telegraph.
The actress had always had a weekly allowance of 50 pounds (approx. 80 dollars) from her lawyer parents, until her father revealed her income from starring in Harry Potter movies to her when she was 17 or 18.
“By the third or fourth film, the money was starting to get ... serious. I had no idea,” said the actress according to the Daily Telegraph.
“I felt sick, very emotional.”
Starring as Hermione also gave Watson restrictions on her style.
“For the nine years I was on Harry Potter I was contractually obliged not to cut my hair, not to tan,” she said.
The fact that Watson was always an A-plus student helped her land the audition for Hermione in 1999. She also speaks fluent French.
The actress now studies at the prestigious Brown University in Rhode Island for a degree in liberal arts, and was recently nominated as the Favorite Movie Star Under 25 by Vogue, according to her official website.
