Elliot Prior, a four-year-old from Windsor in Berkshire, escaped from the Nairobi Westgate situation by telling a gunman that he was a “very bad man.”
Prior approached the man while with his mother Amber--who had been shot in the leg--and his sister Elliott.
Prior came out of hiding and told one of the gunman that he was a “very bad man,” reported the Daily Independent.
“In a bizarre twist, the gunman took pity on the family and handed the children Mars bars before telling them: ‘Please forgive me, we are not monsters,’” reported the news agency.
Amber had lain on top of her children under a cold meat counter in the Nakumatt supermarket inside the upscale mall before being shot.
Elliot’s uncle Alex Coutts said that they had a lucky escape.
The attack on the mall by a group of gunmen has killed at least 72 and injured hundreds more.
