HONG KONG—This week’s BOC Life Hong Kong Premier League round kicked off on Friday (Feb 24) night, with the game between South China and R&F at Mongkok Stadium. In a lacklustre game, South China claimed the 3 points courtesy of a 34th minute winner from Awal Mahama after he'd received a cross from Chak Ting-fung, headed the ball down to himself, and then fired home.

Saturday’s (Feb 25) first game saw Eastern Long Lions take on BC Glory Sky at Hammer Hill Road Sports Ground, with Eastern Long Lions making harder work then necessary to dispose of the languishing BC Glory Sky, Eastern Long Lions took a12th minute lead when Giovane da Silva back-heeled a Miroslav Saric cross into the net. Giovane Da Silva then saw goalkeeper Oleksii Shliakotin save the rebound from his penalty in the 29th minute after his first effort had hit the bar, and then completed his brace in the 33rd minute when he chased a through ball before entering the box and firing home for a 2-nil half time lead. Eastern Long Lions were looking comfortable in the second half before a 90th minute shot from Everton Camargo hit the post, rebounding and cannoning into goalkeeper Yapp Hung-fai and into the net for a final 2-1 win. 

The later game saw Lee Man Rangers face HKFC at Tsing Yi Sports Ground, where a fairly dour and defensive game was settled in the 82nd minute when Chiu Chun-kit broke, played a one-two with Jorge Tarres before scoring to give Lee Man Rangers the 3 points. 

Sunday’s (Feb 26) early game involved Wo Foo Tai Po against Hong Kong Pegasus at Tai Po Sports Ground. Wo Foo Tai Po took a 14th minute when Yuto Nakamura scored from the rebound after Kristijan Naumovski saved Lui Chi Hing’s header from a Manoel Santos free kick, and extended their lead in the 45th minute when Lee Ka-yiu ran through to give them a 2-nil lead at the half-time break. Wo Foo Tai Po added a third in the 70th minute when Lucas Da Silva headed in Wong Yiu-fu’s free kick. Despite Hong Kong Pegasus pulling a goal back in the 82nd minute when Travis Major headed in Christian Annan’s corner kick, Wo Foo Tai Po struck back with an 85th minute strike from Fung Hing-wa, and a 90th minute fifth from Wong Wai for a 5-2 win.     

The later game saw KMB Yuen Long play Kwoon Chung Southern at Yuen Long Stadium which ended in a nil-all draw.    

Eastern Long Lions lead the table with 36 points from 14 matches, with Kitchee second with 30 points from 13 matches. HKFC hold up the table on 3 points from 14 matches, with BC Glory Sky one place above them on 5 points from the same matches.

In First Division games, Easyknit Property were 1-nil victors over Eastern District, Shatin were 5-2 winners against Metro Gallery, Wanchai won 5-nil against Kwun Tong, Resource Capital FC were 4-3 victors over Yau Tsim Mong, Wong Tai Sin drew 2-all with Sun Hei in the clash of the 2 division leaders, Citizen won 5-2 against Kwai Tsing, and Tung Sing were 4-3 victors over Double Flower.

Sun Hei lead the table with 45 points from 17 games with Wong Tai Sin second with 44 points from the same matches.

In the second division, Kwok Keung Linkers ONC were beaten 1-nil by HKU CXSC Sun Source, Lucky Mile were 2-1 winners against Kwong Wah, Sparta Rotterdam Mutual were 1-nil victors over Sham Shui Po, Central & Western were 8-1 winners against Tuen Mun FC, Hoi King drew 2-all with Tuen Mun, and Sai Kung won 2-nil against Kowloon City.

Central & Western lead the table with 34 points from 15 matches with Hoi King, Lucky Mile and Sparta Rotterdam Mutual are joint second with 29 points from 14 games for Hoi King and 15 games for the others.

In the only third division game, Happy Valley were 1-nil victors over GFC Friends.

Happy Valley lead the table with 40 points from 17 matches, with Wing Go Fu Moon second with 38 points from 16 games, and GFC Friends third with 37 points from 17 matches.    

Yau Yee League

In the Yau Yee League Cup Quarter Finals, Wanderers were 2-1 winners against GAS, KCC Knights were 5-nil victors over GGFC, Colts won 10-nil against Dynamo, and Swiss XI won 2-1 against Azzurri.

In the Chairman’s Cup, CSOB were 3-1 victors over Goal Visio, HKSS were 2-nil winners against Yan Po, Skyline won 1-nil against Scorpions, and University were 3-2 victors over CAPS

In the catch up of sixteenth round of first division matches, Albion were 3-1 victors over KCC Dragons..

Wanderers lead the table with 36 points from 15 matches, with Colts and Albion are joint 2nd with 34 points from 14 games each, and GAS is 4th with 29 points from 15 games..
