HONG KONG—This week’s BOC Life Hong Kong Premier League round kicked off on Friday (Mar 3) evening, with the game between Hong Kong Pegasus and BC Glory Sky at Hong Kong Stadium.. Hong Kong Pegasus took a 15th minute lead when Dhiego Martins converted Leong Ka-hang’s cross, with BC Glory Sky equalising in the 60th minute when Cheng Siu-kwan scored following goalkeeper Yuen Ho-chun’s spill of Yoon Donghoon’s corner. However, Hong Kong Pegasus quickly restored their lead n the 63rd minute, with what proved to be the winning goal, when Leong Ka-hang scored after Yuen Chi-lun’s shot was blocked.
There was only one game on Saturday Mar 4, KMB Yuen Long took on Kitchee at Yuen Long Stadium, with Alessandro Leonardo opening the scoring for Kitchee in the 16th minute, heading in Fernando Pedreira’s cross. Leonardo completed his brace with a header from Lam Zhi-gin’s cross, following a short corner. Jared Lum doubled Kitchee’s lead with his own brace, first shooting after receiving a pass from Alessandro Leonardo, the shot being parried onto the post and into the net by goalkeeper Pang Tsz-kin in the 65th minute, and then an 88th minute conversion after receiving the ball from Rufino Segovia. KMB Yuen Long grabbed a consolation in time added on through a spectacular strike from Aleksander Randelovic.
Sunday’s (Mar 5) early game involved Lee Man Rangers and Kwoon Chung Southern at Sham Shui Po Sports Ground, with Kwoon Chung Southern taking a 32nd minute lead when Olivier Ngue chested a ball down before shooting and seeing the ball lob goalkeeper Felix Luk, and, in a hard fought game, Lee Man Rangers equalising in the 90th minute when Lai Yiu-cheong fired home the rebound after defender Dhiego Garrido had inadvertently headed the ball against his own crossbar..
The later game saw Wo Foo Tai Po play HKFC at Tai Po Sports Ground. Wo Foo Tai Po had a slight edge in the first half which ended at nil-all, but HKFC caused a surprise early in the second half by taking a 52nd minute lead when Robbie Bacon finished from a left wing cross, and then doubled their lead in the 65th minute when Frederick Schipper fired home the rebound from a save by goalkeeper Paulo Cesar. Wo Foo Tai Po looked to get back into the game and had the ideal chance in the 80th minute when Manoel Santos was brought down in the penalty box, but Lucas da Silva missed from the penalty spot. Although Wo Foo Tai Po, scored a goal in time added on when David Zana headed in Lee Ka-yiu’s cross, HKFC won their second game of the season to lift them above BC Glory Sky at the foot of the table.
The day’s final game saw R&F face Eastern Long Lions at Siu Sai Wan Sports Ground, with Eastern Long Lions taking a 42nd minute lead when Manuel Rodriguez headed in Wong Chin-hung’s cross, and doubled their lead in the 52nd minute when Cheng King-ho’s cross was converted by Cheng Siu-wan. Eastern Long Lions added a third in the 62nd minute when Giovane Da Silva headed in Diego Moreira’s cross, and completed the 4-nil victory in the 89th minute when Li Ka-chun fired home after playing a one-two with Giovane Da Silva.
Eastern Long Lions lead the table with 39 points from 15 matches, with Kitchee second with 33 points from 14 matches. BC Glory Sky hold up the table on 5 points from 15 matches, with HKFC one place above them on 6 points from the same matches, and R&F on 9 point from the same games.
In First Division games, Tung Sing were 3-1 victors over Wanchai, Sun Hei were 3-1 winners against Double Flower, Eastern District won 4-2 against Yau Tsim Mong, Easyknit Property were 3-2 victors over Kwai Tsing, Wong Tai Sin were 5-1 winners against Metro Gallery, and Citizen drew 1-all against Kwun Tong.
Sun Hei lead the table with 48 points from 18 games with Wong Tai Sin second with 47 points from the same matches, and Easyknit Property third with 36 points from 16 matches.
