NEW YORK—It is not your usual parade, there are no floats or beauty queens, no smiling, waving politicians, and no marching band in sight. It is really more of a strolling display of outlandish and festive headwear, all in celebration of Easter, springtime, and all things bunnies and eggs.
On Sunday morning at about 10 a.m. Fifth Avenue was closed to car traffic from 49th St. in front of St. Patrick’s Cathedral, stretching up to 57th St. The avenue becomes a roaming meet and greet of bonnets wearers on parade and the many that come out to take photos and share in the holiday in what is probably the most relaxed Midtown festivity all year long.
Sunday afternoon was crisp, bright, and sunny and a perfect day for the thousands who filled the streets to see or be seen in holiday head garb. Rockefeller Center also had an Easter egg hunt, a giant bunny, and ice-skating on the rink.
