Dwayne Johnson, AKA The Rock, has not died, but a long-running death hoax is saying otherwise.

The death hoax in question has been going on Facebook for a few weeks.

‘“R. I. P. DWAYNE JOHNSON (1972 – 2014). He died filming a dangerous stunt for FAST & FURIOUS 7,” it reads.

However, it’s obviously not true because Johnson has been tweeting and promoting his upcoming movie, “Hercules,” and he’s also filming “Fast & Furious 7.”

According to security company Malware Bytes, the Facebook post potentially contains malware.

“In testing, clicking the link took us to a PUP (potentially unwanted program) iLivid install which users of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware will find we detect as PUP.Optional.Bandoo (VirusTotal 7 / 51),” the security website says.

It adds: “Of course, Fast & Furious 7 has experienced a rather tragic end for one of the stars of the film but that was away from the movie; The Rock hasn’t experienced any such disaster and users of Facebook should resist the temptation to share / click / install / everything else where claims of The Rock meeting a grisly demise are concerned.”

Other scams involving a Johnson death hoax could lead users to bogus survey websites or other websites that prompt the downloading of rogue Facebook apps.
