A photographer was using a drone to take footage near Pismo State Beach in California as surfers were in the water.
Dustin McCaslin, of Bakersfield, California, launched a drone at around 9:15 a.m. about 50 to 100 feet above the beach and water.
As the serene scene of greenish ocean water unfolded, little did he know, he would capture something amazing yet terrifying.
Moments later, a shadowy blob is seen lurking in the water close to the surfers.
It turned out, according to McCaslin, to be a shark. At one point, the shark is about 30 feet away from a surfer.
As the drone flew overhead, the shark lurked just outside the sand bar, highlighting the dangers of going in the water.
More Sharks
Dozens of sharks were spotted in an inlet in Boynton Beach, Florida, according to WPBF, which published an aerial photo of the sharks on June 13.The photo was shot from a helicopter, showing blacktip sharks in the inlet.
