PBS KIDS will celebrate Dr. Seuss’s 107th birthday on Wednesday, March 2 with two brand new episodes: “Incredible Journey/Bamboozled” and “Teeny Weeny Adventure/I See Seeds,” part of The Cat In The Hat Knows A Lot About That! series.
Born on March 2, 1904, Theodor Seuss Geisel, commonly known by his pen name Dr. Seuss, formulated witty rhymes, meaningful messages, and imaginative characters. His 44 published children’s books have drawn children to learn and love reading.
Some of his most celebrated books include Green Eggs and Ham, The Cat in the Hat, Horton Hears a Who!, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
In “Incredible Journey/Bamboozled,” the Cat introduces Nick and Sally to two “incredible” creatures: Salmon Sam and Zhu Zhu the panda. In “Teeny Weeny Adventure/I See the Seeds,” the Cat takes Nick and Sally on two “tiny” adventures.
“We’re excited to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday with this special on-air event,” Lesli Rotenberg, senior vice president of PBS’s Children’s Media, said in a PBS press release.
“With its focus on science education, The Cat In The Hat Knows A Lot About That! series has become one of our most popular programs, nurturing children’s natural curiosity and instilling a love of exploration through fun adventures and problem solving.”
After the two new episodes, PBS KIDS will also air two favorite episodes from the series: “A Long Winter’s Nap/The Tree Doctor” and “Maps/Termite Towers.”
Dr. Seuss died at age 87 in 1991.
