“DOTA 2”--the multiplayer battle arena game--is getting a documentary about professional players, which will be released by Valve via Steam.
The documentary is coming out March 19. It touches on the lives of three profession players--Ukrainian Danil “Dendi” Ishutin, Singapore resident Benedict “HyHy” Lim, and North American Clinton “Fear” Loomis.
Valve will sell the “Free to Play” pack on Steam and the “DOTA 2” Store, and 25 percent of the sales will go to the players, according to EuroGamer.
“In recent years, E Sports has surged in popularity to become one of the most widely-practiced forms of competitive sport today,” said Valve in Free to Play’s website.
“A million dollar tournament changed the landscape of the gaming world and for those elite players at the top of their craft, nothing would ever be the same again. Produced by Valve, the film documents the challenges and sacrifices required of players to compete at the highest level.”
