Mediterranean homes are the essence of light and natural beauty.
If you’re hoping to add some Mediterranean influence into your home, Grecian inspired design is an excellent place to start. It’s fresh and modern, and of course, has plenty of old-world charm.
Decorating your home with a Grecian-inspired influence doesn’t mean you have to completely redo your entire home’s decor. Thanks to its subtle and natural features, Grecian design is able to easily integrate with a number of different décor styles. Modern and contemporary homes are especially able to benefit from an infusion of this spectacular décor, which takes its inspiration from nature, and a number of classical elements.
If you’re looking to incorporate a bit of Greece inspiration into your home décor, here’s how you can get the look.
Décor: Natural and Geometric
Light, bright, and beautiful –Mediterranean homes draw inspiration from nature. Grecian design also features solid, geometric designs, strong pillars, and bold statues. Materials to use include tiles, and wood –whitewashed, or left natural are both good options.
Style: Open and Airy
Grecian design uses open space, and makes use of natural light. To recreate this look in your home, embrace light, breezy window treatments. Alternatively, you could take your drapes further out and higher up on each side of the window, to let the maximum amount of light in. Use mirrors, glass accents, and glossy details to finish off the look and to make the room feel lighter, and more open.
Colors: Light and Earthy
Classic Greek inspired colors are sky blue, and white –reminiscent of the white Grecian architecture contrasted with the deep blue of the sky and the Aegean sea. Grecian décor draws inspiration from nature; so browns, earthy tones, neutral, and light hues are always excellent color options.
