Deep Dive (Feb. 15): Trump Hints at Future Plans After Second Acquittal

Now that former President Donald Trump has been acquitted by the Senate, what’s next? One top Republican hints that Trump’s not done with politics or the Republican Party. Sen. Lindsay Graham (R-S.C.) gave hints about Trump’s next moves in an interview with Fox News on Sunday. And Trump himself also gave some hints in a statement released after Senate acquitted him of an impeachment charge on Feb. 13.

Seven Republican senators voted to convict Trump of inciting violence at the U.S. Capitol. Now all seven of them are facing backlash from their local and state party chapters. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), meanwhile, praised them, calling them “Republican patriots.”

And New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio called New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s alleged nursing home cover-up “disturbing” and “very troubling.” The Cuomo administration reportedly withheld information about CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus deaths in nursing homes.
