Halloween has always been a celebratory holiday. Even with the downfall of the economy, the combination of magical and enchanting foliage can help develop the mood for the chill and thrills of Halloween. There are plenty of traditional and non-traditional Halloween decorations that can help you get ready for the Halloween spirit.

In addition to gremlins, witches and goblins there are many other aspects of Halloween. Decorating the home for Halloween is one of the many attractions for celebrating this holiday. One of the enjoyments for decorating your home is picking your theme and making the home noticeable, mysterious, and fun. For some people it’s about families spending quality time, while decorating and celebrating the changing of the seasons.

Traditional Halloween festivities include trick-or treat, telling ghost stories, lighting bonfires, scary sounds, smoke and fog, special dim lights, costuming and attending parties. Going “green” is a new twist to Halloween that has emerged in the last year. For instance eco-friendly reusable trick-or-treat bags can be made from fabric or other items around the house.

Candy Corn, Hershey’s Kisses, and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are no doubt traditional candy offerings. Alternative sweet offerings can include fruit, natural lollipops, whole-grain granola bars ,organic chocolate, gluten-free, fair trade products, kosher, and dairy free treats. For kids that can not eat candy, hand out non-edible items such as crayons, boxes of raisins, pencils, stickers and water tattoos. Always remember there are options when choosing non-traditional idea’s for Halloween.

Traditions are wonderful and in combination of making your Halloween “green”, Halloween becomes even more magical, charming, and powerful.
