A fatal crash in New York City snarled traffic, nearly shutting it down altogether, on the George Washington Bridge on Tuesday morning, Dec. 27, according to reports.
In the accident, three people were killed and four were injured after two semi trucks collided with a sedan and a pick-up truck on the Cross Bronx Expressway, officials told the New York Post.
The crash took place at 5:45 a.m. local time on the expressway between Webser and Jerome avenues.
Three men who were in the pickup were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according to NBC New York. Two other passengers in the truck were hospitalized in serious condition, police said.

Traffic was stalled on the westbound Cross Bronx Expressway, NBC said.
All lanes were shut down and delays of 80 minutes were reported on the inbound George Washington Bridge, NBC said.
A backup of nearly 4 miles was reported on the New Jersey Turnpike’s northbound lanes.
Officials said the travel time to the Alexander Hamilton Bridge, which spans the Harlem River, from the upper level of the George Washington Bridge ballooned from the normal time of 40 minutes to 110 minutes.
The New York Daily News, meanwhile, reported that travel time to the Alexander Hamilton Bridge, expanded from 40 minutes—the normal time—to 110 minutes.
