David Garrard quits: Garrard, who was slated to be part of a competition for starting New York Jets quarterback, has “to call it quits.”
“My knee is not holding up. Continuing to swell after practices. Limiting what I can do,” he said in a text to reporter Adam Schein.
There’s now four quarterbacks at the position. The most senior of those is Mark Sanchez, who faces rookie Geno Smith for the starting job. The other two, Matt Simms and Greg McElroy, are possible backups.
