“Dancing With the Stars” contestant duo, actor James Maslow and professional dancer Peta Murgatroyd, confirmed in a morning Access Hollywood Live interview on April 24, 2014 that they are not a couple.
The two had a perfect score of 40 points after their contemporary dance to the soundtrack “Let It Go” from the Blockbuster hit animation “Frozen,” and have been fighting rumors about a possible romantic relationship because of their on-stage chemistry.
“This is not by design, we have not planned anything, we’re just mutual friends,” Maslow said.
Media have pursued the idea of a possible relationship after finding out the 23-year-old Maslow and 27-year-old Murgatroyd were on a date prior to being paired up on the show. Maslow calls it a coincidence.
Murgatroyd explained that it’s not the first time there’s a misunderstanding about her dancing partner. “Every season they think that I’m with my partner,” she said.
Murgatroyd, who is also an Australian TV personality, said that she’s trying to branch out of dancing and is currently taking some acting classes. She wants to go into acting in the near future.
“Dancing With the Stars” airs on ABC every Monday at 8 p.m.
