American Idol finalist, Crystal Bowersox, came in second place last night marking the end of a long season of great talent and heated competition. It was a battle of sexes on the stage last night.
One—the young Lee Dewyze, sporting an exceptional smile, a catchy, commercial voice, and a humble, mild manner who vowed to continue his singing career regardless of the outcome of the show.
The other—a young woman with an old-school style, a down to earth, powerful voice, and a sunny, soft peace about her.
For some around the country, Crystal Bowersox was exactly the blast to the past they wanted. Her dread-locked hair, acoustic guitar, cross-legged, carpet-sitting, Janis Joplin-esque, long-skirt-wearing, peace, love, and flowers feel invoked memories of a simpler past, a time before scantily-clad tweens singing about boys.
It seems, however, that Bowersox’s sixties’ appeal was not enough, as Dewyze beat her out last night on the American Idol finale. It was a double goodbye, one for Bowersox and one for Simon Cowell, as it was the long-time American Idol judge’s very last season on the show.
Before hearing her final critique from Cowell, Bowerbox bid him goodbye, wishing him a very successful future. Cowell’s final critique was short and powerful, “Since this is going to be the final critique I’m ever going to give, I would just like to say that was outstanding.”
Making her final remark as a contestant on American Idol, Bowersox said, “meow is the time.”
