NEW YORK—Regardless of the September Primaries, Joe Lhota’s name will appear on the ballot after the former head of the MTA picked up the endorsement of the Conservative Party on Monday, June 3.
“How the next mayor handles our budget and safety challenges will determine the direction of our city,” said Conservative Party Chairman Mike Long in a statement. “Joe has spent his entire career managing complex organizations, while keeping costs under control and enhancing services. He is the only candidate in this race that voters can trust to meet these challenges and ensure our city continues to flourish.”
Lhota received the endorsement on the steps of City Hall.
“Sound fiscal policy, an accountable education system and keeping our streets safe from violent criminals are at the forefront of my candidacy,” Lhota said in a statement. “New York City has made great strides over the past twenty years, and I will fight to strengthen that progress as the next mayor.”
Rival Republican candidates John Catsimatidis is also guaranteed a spot on the ballot this fall after he received the Liberal Party backing on May 7.
