INCHEON, South Korea—Shen Yun Performing Arts Touring Company, based in the United States, performed its final show in Incheon, South Korea, at the Culture and Arts Center on the evening of April 14. Local politicians and celebrities came excitedly to see the show. Congressman Kim Gyeonghyeop praised Shen Yun, saying it was splendid and grandiose.
After seeing Shen Yun, Mr. Kim said that the performance provided the audience with an opportunity to experience and immerse themselves in China’s rich culture. “The entire show was very magnificent, majestic, and eye-catching. This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the traditional culture of various areas of China, as well as classical Chinese dance. Shen Yun put together all the programs that are rarely seen. It is very touching.”
“I found the Mongolian Bowl Dance of the Mongolian ladies and the Inspired Dance of the Yi of the Yi people both to be very memorable. The show gave me a wonderful feeling, as if I were in heaven.”
The persecution of Falun Gong practitioners portrayed in the Shen Yun performance left a strong impression on Mr. Kim. “The show reflected the current human rights issues within China. Falun Gong practitioners are being persecuted, and that kind of persecution of human rights is wrong.”
He said, “Human rights are extremely important; regardless of what country it is. People’s fundamental freedoms and rights are god-granted. The rights that people originally should have enjoyed were restricted due to political reasons, so it makes people feel very sad.”
