CINCINNATI, Ohio—Larry Mosteller, president of an electronics company enjoyed Shen Yun Performing Arts Touring Company at Aronoff Center for the Arts on Feb.4.
He said, “It’s nice to sprinkle a little different culture in your experiences in the arts, so I enjoyed it very much.”
Michael Mercer, an advertising salesperson, said she shared his sentiments.
“It was very different, very enriching cultural experience, I loved it,” Ms. Mercer said. “It was interesting just to hear about the culture. In the classical dance, I loved the grace, and the elegance of the costumes. It was a very enlightening feeling, I loved it.”
Based in New York, Shen Yun intends to revive China’s 5,000-year-old divinely-inspired heritage.
Ms. Mercer said she was inspired. “It was very interesting, profound in the sense that every dance told a story. It was fun to watch but it had a message to it, it was very profound ...the spiritual message, the enlightenment, how we are all just very small in the universe and how we all need our beliefs and humanity itself, we need a spiritual guidance.”
Mr. Mosteller also summed up his Shen Yun experience: “It’s a very enjoyable visual experience, all the colors and the very precise dancing. These people work very hard to put all this together, they make it look so easy,” he said.
He found Shen Yun’s projected digital backdrops impressive.
“It was very clever what was done, we were talking about that wonderful digital stuff. It’s a nice presence and again, helped tell the story in a way that you couldn’t do it on a flat stage. It made it a three dimensional experience, much bigger than what the stage is, so it was great.”
