KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia—Because of pressure from the Chinese embassy, the Malaysian government cancelled the Divine Performing Arts’ permit to perform in Malaysia. The show organizer suffered a large financial loss.

To rectify this, the show organizer, the Falun Dafa Association of Malaysia, started a petition calling for public support to appeal to Malaysia’s Ministry of Culture to issue a permit for the Divine Performing Arts.

According to the association, the public responded warmly to the petition. In less than one month, the association has already collected almost 4,000 signatures. Volunteer worker Ms. Chen told the Epoch Times, “Many locals are very supportive, a female Chinese vendor signed without hesitation after I told her the reason for cancellation, after ten minutes, she even brought over her friend to sign.”

Chen continued, “Another Chinese clothing merchant was also very surprised about the cancellation. I talked to him for nearly half an hour about what kind of show it is and why the communist regime is persecuting Falun Gong. He not only signed his name, but also asked for a lot of pamphlets for his family and relatives to understand the issue.”

Another petition organizer Mr. Lian, expressed that this would provide them the opportunity to further explain the situation to the public, why the Chinese communist regime wants to block the Shen Yun Show, and why the persecution of Falun Gong happened in mainland China.

“Many people signed without hesitation after we explained this to them. It is very meaningful activity, while collecting signatures, we are actually promoting the show as well. Many people asked us to notify them when the show returns to Malaysia,” said Mr. Lian.
