A tornado was reported on the ground in Columbus, Miss., on Monday evening, according to preliminary reports.
The National Weather Service, via Twitter, wrote: “Large tornado reported moving into the city of Columbus, Miss; seek shelter now.” It wrote that at around 7:05 p.m. ET.
It’s unclear if there’s any injuries or damage.
The National Weather Service says in full:
“A Tornado Warning remains in effect for Lowndes County until 6:30 pm CDT. At 6:03 pm CDT, a confirmed large and extremely dangerous tornado was located near bent oak, and moving northeast at 25 mph.
This is a particularly dangerous situation.
Hazard, damaging Tornado.

Impact: You are in a life threatening situation. Flying debris will be deadly to those caught without shelter. Mobile Homes will be destroyed. Considerable damage to homes, businesses and vehicles is likely and complete destruction possible.
