Cinco de Mayo is here on Monday, May 5 and people are wondering whether stores such as McDonald’s, Subway, and Pizza Hut are open or closed.

Most of the locations of these stores--including McDonald’s, Burger King, Taco Bell, and KFC--will be open.

That’s because Cinco de Mayo is a Mexican public holiday, but not an American one.

According to the United States Census Bureau, as of the last count of Mexican Americans there were 33.6 million in the country.

If one of these owns a location of a fast food or other restaurant, then they may be closed. Otherwise, they will be open with normal hours.
