As investigators continue to comb through evidence collected from Chris Brown’s home following an alleged gun incident involving a woman, the singer’s attorney contends his client is innocent.
“It has become apparent that the allegations are not just false but fabricated,” attorney Mark Geragos told the LA Times on Aug. 31.
Geragos said Brown is “fully cooperating” with the investigation.
Brown’s alleged victim, Baylee Curran said the gun-pulling incident all began as she looked at jewelry in the singer’s home on Aug. 30. She alleges that Brown suddenly became angry, pointed a gun at her, and told her to leave his home.
“I was just standing over it admiring it. Not touching it … and then one of Chris’s friends says ‘back away from the diamond,’” Curran said in an interview with ABC News. “That’s when Chris came in and said ‘I’m so sick of all of you people.’ He took the gun out put it in my face and said ‘get the ’F‘ out.’”
She added, “I didn’t want anything to escalate because, hello, he’s holding a gun to me.”
Curran said she left the home and sought help from a neighbor, who then called police. Officers arrived at Brown’s Tarzana residence at 3 a.m. but were only allowed in after a search warrant was obtained nearly 14 hours later.
Police seized security surveillance from the home and did not find the jewelry described by Curran nor any guns, according to Geragos.
Brown has refuted the allegations on social media and have garnered support from his musical peers, including Ray J.
“I’m not happy with how things are handled and how people can take a false story and blow it up into something way more than what it should be,” Ray J said in an Instagram video. “I support the homie Chris, I support the whole movement.”
Brown was taken into custody on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. He was released from Los Angeles County jail after posting $250,000 bail and is expected to appear in court on Sept. 20.
Following Tuesday’s arrest, Brown released a new song called, “What Would You Do?” on his soundcloud page.
