NISHINOMIYA, Japan—Several Chinese students watched Shen Yun Performing Arts Touring Company’s performance at the Hyogo Performing Art Center on April 24 and 25. Ms. Li was among them. She was in Japan for only a few months and she believed that what she saw presented by Shen Yun was the genuine Chinese culture.

Ms. Li said she was very excited being able to see Shen Yun. “Shen Yun objectively presented the 5,000 years of Chinese culture, which is something you don’t see in China.

“This is the first time I have seen this kind of three-dimensional presentation. Ancient Elegance and Sand Monk is Blessed are the two programs that touched my heart in a very special way,” she said.

Ms. Li said that she understood the meaning of the stories presented in the classical Chinese dances. “The Chinese culture is very profound and I am proud of being a Chinese.”

“In the six months I have been in Japan, I have gradually gotten to know about Falun Gong and understand the facts of the persecution. I heard criticisms in China but after I got to know Falun Gong practitioners in Japan, I thought they were very nice. Totally not what I thought they were.

“When I saw in the Shen Yun program men dressed in black [police] beating Falun Gong practitioners because they believed in Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance, it suddenly occurred to me that in China people indeed lived a very bitter life and they suffered a lot. The government is in fact very corrupt. I knew that when I was in China.

“The Shen Yun performance is really objective. Too bad people back home can’t see it. It is free to express the truth and it revives traditional Chinese culture,” Ms. Li said.

“After I saw the performance, the righteous side of me was strengthened. I then remembered a lot from when I was in China. People often taught me how to play mind games. I did not like it, especially lying to achieve something.

“This world often confuses right and wrong. If I can always keep a kind thought, I think I can live happily even if others do not agree with me,” Ms. Li concluded.
