NEW YORK—A hazmat team was called into JFK Airport on Aug. 11 around 1 p.m. after a package with a strange odor was found by postal inspectors.
The initial report from a Twitter-based police scanner, NYScanner, said the package contained nerve gas, yet neither the NYPD or Port Authority was able to confirm.
Port Authority confirmed there was a suspicious package, and they were following protocol to investigate its contents.
It is understood that nobody was taken to the hospital because of the package.
Update: After testing the contents of the package, the FBI determined it contained beauty supplies, Associated Press reported.
