An earthquake struck central-western China on Monday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake, which registered 5.9 magnitude, hit Gansu Province.

The quake hit at a depth of around 0.6 miles, striking early on Monday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake hit 9 miles from Chabu, 93 miles from Beidao, and around 111 miles from Lanzhou.

The Chinese state-run seismological agency said the earthquake measured 6.6 on the Richter scale.
