The council did not pass the resolution, voting 3 to 2 late Tuesday evening.
According to KTLA5, both little girls—who are set to be sisters—was crying hysterically. The older girl was placed on a gurney and hoisted into an ambulance, the station reports.
They were standing by a woman—later identified as the girls’ grandmother— wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat as paramedics came to the scene. The grandmother was also struck by the pepper-spray, the Register reported.
After the incident, “there were no further acts of violence between the two groups,” Wyatt said.
Trump is currently the front-runner for the Republican party after winning five state primaries on Tuesday.
