Chicago police are investigating the possibility that a Chicago Transit Authority Blue Line (CTA) train that crashed into another train was hijacked, according to a report. Four-dozen people were injured.

The train that caused the crash had only four cars, while trains during rush hour have more cars, CBS 2 reported.

Forest Park Mayor Anthony Calderone told the station there was no one at the controls when it crashed.

Now, police are treating the incident as a crime scene.

Amalgamated Transit Union 308 spokesman said that a key is needed to drive the train from the yard.

NBC similarly reported that the train may have been stolen.

Sources told NBC that whoever was driving the train was wearing a CTA uniform.

Robert Kelly, the president of the union, said that CTA trains are equipped with sensors that can detect when crashes are about to take place. There is a system that can override those.
